Exhibition of paintings by Emeline Rochaix, a painter from Lyon, on the theme of the mountain, a horizon of possibilities. Fascinated by the pictorial material: textures, contrasts, reliefs and traces of tools, the artist appeals to both sight and the desire to touch.
With a degree in Fine Arts, Emeline Rochaix has been painting for many years. Her work has evolved over time, moving from a world of abstract, geometric compositions blending shapes, colors, and materials or objects, to a world of mountains and abstract landscapes. The mountain motif offers her a wide range of possibilities and experiences.
Among her inspirations are Pierre Soulages for his use of paint, blacks, and light, but also Cézanne, Monet, Fabienne Verdier, Chinese art, ceramics, stained glass, and simply nature.
Each painting has a simple title corresponding to the date of its creation, the moment when the artist felt the composition had achieved balance. This allows each viewer to interpret, feel, and develop their own impression of the painting without being "guided" by the artist. Emeline Rochaix employs a variety of techniques: adding mediums to acrylic or gouache paint, India ink, pastels or oil pastels, cork or paper... to which she adds gilding.
